Facebook now has a new way to poll your friends or fans and ask them questions. Facebook rolled out a new version of Questions March 24 allowing pages to ask questions to people that “Like” their page.
Business’ and brands are looking for ways to use the new Questions feature on Facebook. With it now becoming compared to Q&A sites such as Quora, Yahoo Answers and LocalMind. With Facebook now having this feature for brands and business’ it gives them more opportunities to engage with consumers, friends, and family. Not simply just asking a question in the status bar, the new feature has a polling option added which will generate ratings for research. Mashable recently wrote:
“Beyond the impact it will have on users, the widespread release of Facebook Questions is also emblematic of the continuing trend we’ve seen from Facebook: As soon as a new trend in social media begins to rise up, Facebook acts quickly and decisively,”
So how is Facebook Questions different from Quora or Yahoo Answers? There are two differences. Answers to questions can’t be written out after the question is asked. Multiple choice answers are the only option. Questions and their answers are not for public use (yet). Public Q&A sites such as Quora and Yahoo Answers are.
In addition, the new feature can be used to survey fans for new ideas for your brand or business. You also have the option to allow your fans to add additional answers to the poll you have already created. Users can also share these polls/Questions with their friends for more exposu
re and more opinions.
NOTE: Mashable! wrote an article for more information and a how-to guide to add this feature to your page.
